Data Protection Officer for Hudiksvall Municipality

Hudiksvall Municipality is strengthening its data protection efforts and is looking for a Data Protection Officer who wants to take on a new and central role in our ongoing development work.

The mission is to ensure that personal data is handled in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant laws in the area. In this position, you will work for the municipalities of Hudiksvall, Nordanstig, and Ljusdal, as well as the municipal companies, and have close collaboration with the Data Protection Officer in Sundsvall Municipality. Here, you will have the opportunity to truly develop, shape, and drive our joint work forward.

You will be based in Hudiksvall and work flexibly between the three municipalities. You will be part of the Digitalization and Development Unit, an experienced and knowledgeable unit – while also having significant personal responsibility over how you organize your work.

Responsibilities

As a Data Protection Officer, you will review and provide support and advice on data protection issues to the municipalities and the municipal companies. This means you will work both independently and together with a network of data protection coordinators in each administration and company. The role is strategic, advisory, and development-oriented – it is not just about reviewing, but equally about lifting, supporting, and enabling.

You will, among other things:

• Lead and coordinate the network of data protection coordinators
• Follow up and review the work with GDPR and other applicable laws in the area
• Be the contact person for the Swedish Data Protection Authority (IMY)
• Support in data protection issues and assist in incident management
• Drive the development of the joint municipal data protection work

Your Profile

For this position, we are looking for someone with an academic degree in law, information security, or another area deemed equivalent by the employer. You have good knowledge of data protection legislation and several years of experience working with data protection issues. Experience from the public sector, IT law, or insight into the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act is meritorious. A driving license and proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, are required.

As a person, you are relationship-building, communicative, and attentive. You can explain complex issues in an understandable way and enjoy working independently and in a structured manner. You are pragmatic, solution-oriented, and find ways forward even in complex situations. You are a secure person who collaborates well, remains calm, and sees development opportunities.
